First numero Empty First numero

Post by Elloa Sat Apr 28, 2012 1:13 pm

Suggestions for the first numero.
I'm keeping the idea of a Weekly publication. If you want discuss this issue and prefer another model, open a thread about it.

Publication : wednesday 2 may (during the maintenance) or next week
I personaly would prefer to go for Wednesday for our first parution as I believe we will have enough to fill a first numero. We can choose another day for our second publication if we don't like the Wednesday.

Structure

1. Top article : First numero of SamaelNews + Image (Acharial - in process)
We are happy to present you Samael News, blablablablabla
(lenght +- 10 lines max)

2. The Sun after the Storm - Elloa (in process)
The release was supposed to be a nice moment of joy, but the week end fight for our right, never give up, censor bullshit, we love tera blablablablabla
(lenght +-10 lines max)

3.Flash News (I'm giving some examples)

- Elin Dance Squad had been forced to migrate from Essenia, the server where all hardcore PVP guild have choosen, due to some funny guys stealing their guild name and ruinning their reputation by ganking players. Elin Dance Squad have found a home in Samael.

- Elin Dance Squad is apprently arrousing jealousies. A guild called Elin Kill Squas had been created on Samael. Supposed to recruit exclusively non Elin players and to focus on Elin extermination, our reporters have already spoted a red haired Elin slayers wearing the guild Tag. The project doesn't seem very serious.

- The 27 april evening, several higher level players from The Avengers had been blocking the Lumbertown bridge, making sure no players could complete their quest in the Fairy Forest.

I need everyone in the guild to report News for the Flash news. (Reporter role)

4. The Question of the Week : Why did you choose the server Samael? (Elloa)

Bibi, Guild1 : Ooh because of blablablabla
Toto, Guild2 : I choose Samael blablablabla
Riri, Guild3 : blablablabla
etc

5. A player interview. Elin Dance Squad leader. + Image (Malera - in preocess)

Samael News : Hello Milla, thanks to be our first player interviewed. First, question of the week : Why did you choose Samael as the new EDS server?
Milla : blablablabla
etc

6. The Screenshot of the week
<Whitestar screenie>

Every week, Samael News will feature a screenshot selected among those YOU will sent us. Take a nice screenshot, preferably without UI, and sent it to Karneelya (contact adresse). You might see it the next week published in Samael News.

Post by Elloa Mon Apr 30, 2012 3:42 pm

We will never make it for wednesday, so I propose the release of our FIRST numero of Samael News : monday 7.

It will be a special numero with more article. Need to be finished and done Sunday6 may.

I really need your help, everyone, specialy to gather news.
Who is making Guild Wars, who is ganking, who is losing, who is nice and helpful!

Malera, you proposed yourself for an interview. Can you take the interview of Elin Dance Squad leader (or an officer) in charge?
Before you do it, could you make a little research job on forum (we can also discuss a bit about it), to prepare your questions?
The story to know about EDS is the fact that they got their name stolen on Essenia by Doom (who attempted to realy ruin their reputation), and the fact that there is a guild called Elin Kill Squad on Samael. So, some questions about that among other stuff might be a good idea.
thread to read

I need someone for the introduction text (if no one volunteer, I'll do it myself, but would be cool to have as much diferent Whitestar members participating as possible)

And if someone got an idea meanwhile for a third longer article, please say so!!

First numero Empty Re: First numero

Post by Elloa Wed May 02, 2012 4:19 pm

Text after corrections and suggestions from Karneelya. Green part still need corrections.

The release of Tera, a game that has been expected impatiently by the European and American fans for several years, should have been a moment of incredible joy and excitement, a weekend spent sharing enthusiastic Youtube videos and screenshots. Instead, a storm of anger and protestations against Frogster, the European publisher for Tera, has overflowed the forums.
Everything started when a player discovered that the blood slider had been removed from the game. Feeling betrayed, the community immediately responded against the censorship caused by the 12+ PEGI rating. Letters and petitions had been sent from all over Europe. Websites such as Massively, Eurogamer and Gamebreaker published articles about the case. No one can deny that all of this was bad PR for a game that already had to compete with other big titles.

The intention of the community had often been misunderstood and sometimes criticized. The fans did not fight for mere details such as a "blood slider" but yelled their indignation because such a low rating would obviously mean more censorship in the future. Tera had been created for a mature audience. The universe can be dark and gloomy, the armors and character animations are suggestive, and the gameplay includes a very complex political system. These features are not aimed at younger audiences.
We DO LOVE Tera, and we can not accept the fact that our beloved game is being destroyed, diminished, censored. We want to make sure that it’s soul won’t be stolen in order to fit the tastes of an audience that wasn't supposed to even look at the game. We simply want to protect Tera in it’s original artistic shape.

Four days later, Frogster posted an open letter to the community which, in their eyes, was supposed to be reassuring. But nowhere did they seem to say something about changing the rating. Will Tera be safe from any unnecessary censorship? Will Frogster keep their word? Will Tera EU ever receive a rating any higher than 12+? Only time will tell.
Meanwhile, the world of Arborea is invaded by thousands of players, eager to explore every inch of the two Titan's dream. It seems that Kumas and guilds battles are keeping players busy...and much more quiet.

First numero Empty interview eds

Post by Malera Thu May 03, 2012 10:28 am

My interview with Mikichi - EDS guild leader. Need someone to proof read!

Malera: Okay so you're Mikichi, the creator of the guild EDS (Elin Dance Squad) Is that correct?
Mikichi: Yup, that's me. Smile

Malera: For those that have not heard about your Elin community, would you care to explain a little more about EDS and what you're all about?
Mikichi: At EDS, we are a community of like minded people. We consist of a boat load of Elins, as the name suggests. The guild goal is simple. We want you to enjoy TERA as much as we do! Therefore we prioritize having fun above all things!

Malera: What made you settle for a Elin only guild? Is it because the Elins are a cute race, or was there another reason? Smile
Mikichi: To be honest - EDS was originally going to be a guild for me and a couple of my friends. While most of us liked the cuteness which radiated from Elins. The reason why we are a race exclusive guild, is because Elins are just plain awesome. I mean a lot of people like chasing people with ridiculously sized weapons right? Or is that just my twisted humor?

Malera: On the 27th of April, a statement came out on the Tera forums that EDS would not be playing on the essenia server, due to another guild attempted to steal your guild name. Could you fill us in a little on that matter?
Mikichi: During the time between OBT and Pre-launch, a lot of planning went into how we could roll our guild out smoothly and undistracted. At that point, we already saw signs of this happening. Therefore we captialized on the community's assumption that we will be playing on Essenia, thus decided to suprise everyone and save ourselves some trouble.

Malera: "Doom Multi Gaming Community" Took on responsability for this, claming that they did it because players from EDS stole names aswell. "Some member from EDS took other peoples names so why not" - Tashohnie
What is your answer to that?
Mikichi: Haha, I didn't even know they said something like that! It just increases the hilarity factor, and I know the whole community knows this - ever since EDS was created, we have had very little contact with other guilds. We kept to ourselves and stayed out of everyone else's way, so we held no grudge against anyone and we faulted no one either. Plus we at EDS are all mature people with morals. Stealing names gives us no benefits anyway.

Malera: Okay, one last question about this subject. How did you feel when you knew that this was attempted, did you feel let down by your fellow community or did you simply brush it off?
Mikichi: When I first found out the situation, I was not taken by surpise, and neither was the guild. We all saw it coming, and had planned countering measures ready for what was about to be thrown at us. I then calmed my mind - released a statement on the forums, and cleared up the rest of the rumours. I have to say, I, on behalf of EDS, want to thank everyone of the TERA community for not losing faith in us, and also for giving us so much support!

Malera: Durring your transfer over to the Samael server, a guild named "Elin Kill Squad" arose, how was it to be welcomed by a guild based on hatred for your favorite race?
Mikichi: When this guild arose on Samael, we immediately knew who this was. But since then, we have not even seen one member from that guild.

Malera: Did you feel worried at first, thinking that it would be a group of players constatly looking for you?
Mikichi: We did not feel threated by it at all. We are on a PVP server, and we understand we will not be on good terms with every guild/ player out there, therefore we expect there to be conflict 24/7. So having a guild called 'Elin Kill Squad' makes no differecne to us at all.

Malera: Since rolling on Samael server, how are you personally feeling about the server community, for these few short days that you have been here for?
Mikichi: I have to say, coming from Essenia, Samael seems a lot more peaceful. On second day of pre-launch, I was half expecting to be in a GvG already, but when I logged in, to my suprise, there was none. There have been times where we wished we were on Essenia, but most of the time, we are glad that we are on Samael and enjoying TERA together!

Malera: Now with Tera servers finally opening tomorrow for everyone to play on, without limitations. What are you most excited about? Expect finally get to play.
Mikichi: Everything! I personally look forward to end-game content! I am also excited to see how the political system will be shortly after launch! I think everyone in the guild is eager to find out too!

Malera: So, is it a possiblity that we'll see a little Elin Vanarch from the EDS guild in the future?
Mikichi: That is entirely possible! It is certain that we will be participating in the politcal side of the game. Plus it is also possible to see other Elin Vanarchs from other guilds too! Not just from EDS Smile

Malera: Okay, that was all the questions for now. Thank you so much for taking your time talking with me!
Mikichi: Haha, I thank you and everyone else that has to read and get critically hit by my wall of texts! Even I get sick of them myself sometimes xD!

The Question of the week

I'm wondering if instead of 8 answers, I'd not choose 4 of those with a small portrait.

Every week, you will find in Samael News the « Question of the week », asked directly in game by one of our reporters to players selected by chance.

Why did you choose to play on Samael ?

Nimrod, Elin warrior from <Blessed>: It’s kinda plain, this name was available here. Haha !

Samaelle, High Elf sorcerer from <Shived>: I’m french, but I choose an english server because french players are always complaining, and I wanted to play on a PVP server. The other one (Essenia) is too crowed and that can be annoying.

Takas, Aman berseker from <Sementiende>: Essenia was full.

Nyx, Elin slayer from <The Crimson Eye>: I choose Samael because two guys I know went here, and we decided that Essenia will be overcrowed with queue.

Dracu, Human lancer, guildless : Samael is not so crowded, but there is just enough people to play with.

Lanchii, Castanic archer and Sinaps, Elin warrior from <Outlaw> : Essenia was full. Samael is not fully crowed. It’s more balanced.

Unclesam, Baraka priest from <Nerf> : I just followed some friends

Evoc, Aman archer from <Outlaw> : Well, my friends started to play here cause they though this would be less crowed server in the beggining

Flash News

Every week, Samael News inform the readers with the lastest news of the server the weekly rubric 'Flash news'. Read Samael News every monday to know what's going on!

- <Elin Dance Squad> had been forced to migrate from Essenia, the server where all hardcore PVP guild have chosen to establish themselves, due to some funny guys stealing their guild name and ruining their reputation by ganking players. <Elin Dance Squad> have found a home in Samael. (see our interview for more info)

- The 27th april, several higher level players from <The Avengers> had been blocking the Lumbertown bridge, making sure no players could complete their quests in the Fairy Forest

Supposedly recruiting exclusively non Elin players and focusing on Elin extermination, our reporters have already spotted a red haired Elin slayer wearing the guild Tag. The project doesn't seem very serious, and after five days we haven't seen any more of them. (see our interview for more infos)

- The 3rd May at noon, Tera was officialy released! However, the starting zone was surprinsingly empty most of the day.

-The 4th May around noon: Ironman, Baraka slayer and Lyanisu, Elin berseker from <Evil League of Evil> hit level 60, making them the first on the server to reach the maximum level! Congratulations to them.

First numero Outlaw10

- Friday 4th May, several members of the guild <Deep Trotteur>, lead by the human Danois, declared to possess <...>, and kill on sight everyone in the area. Tired by their endless griefing, <Outlaw> organized a small offensive to strike back. Several minutes later, the dead bodies of the <Deep Trotteur> members were strewn around in the mud.

- Saturday 5th May, Mikeimus, leader of <Sunstrider>, publicly accused the guild <Rigor Mortis> to have used spies against them to win the war between them. Recruited as Sunstrider members, the two spies had apparently divulged information back to their own guild.
Mikeimus, posting in the Samael forums, later stated;
"Lets face it, I don't really mind that my guild has encountered a GvG Loss. However what i do care about is that this guild in particular do not know how to win a fair fight. Their excuse was we were killing lowbies".

- Sunday 6th May, around 4 o'clock: Vanille, Human Sorcerer, Koko, Castanic warrior and Eleanor, Castanic Archer from <Soul Eater> reached the level cap and earned the title of "Prime". Vanille had been the first one of the group to ding. Congratulations to them!

Introduction text

Early access and release included, it's ten days we are playing Tera. Ten days of wonder and fights in the world of Arborea.
Some have already reached the level cap, while others are taking their time. Rivalities and alliance are arrousing slowly, as guilds fights each others, and small squads assault lonely players. Our server community is taking shape, step by step.
Sometimes we could think that Samael is too peacefull or too quiet when we compare it to Essenia. Nothing had been previously planed or organised. In most of case, guilds didn't knew each others. That's also a great news, because it mean that everything had to be done! Samael is like a virgin island, waiting for adventurers to explore it, and to transform it as they dream it to be.
We hope that Samael News, this newspaper project, will not only be the witness of our server, our community taking shape, but will also help and encourage every individual and every guild to be actively part of this.
For us to enjoy this virtual world the month and the years to come.
