Gimp - need help !

I try this programm, but I guess I don't understand much about it. I'd like to be able to rework photos and make effect on it, but seriously i understand nothing to this program. Nothing seem to work (i'm a bit stupid with all that kind of stuff I must confess^^)

Heh, good luck with that - when I first tried GIMP, I struggled but that was years ago. I'd start by finding a good tutorial page (start here: http://www.gimp.org/tutorials/The_Basics/ - official page tutorials) or go http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/5-websites-learn-gimp-photo-editor-online/ (site has a lot of links and some look a bit dodgy, but do your own search and take it from there).
