reserving names

As discussed in Skype i tested if the name would be saved as soon as you enter it during creation (reserving it during the creation process).

It does not.

Metodology:

Started char creation and chose a name, did everything but clicking on the finish button.

Started another account in which i also started char creation and chose the same name. Clicked finish this time. No error, char was created.

Clicked finish on the first one, just for the hell of it, "can't create that char" - returns you to main screen (bye bye faces changes).

So should you want to reserve a name, better to it quickly as your name is only really reserved when the char is actually created (as expected, but better be safe than sorry, thats why i tested it ^^).

I am myself going to have Joao reserve all the char names on his account and i will be reserving his on mine. Then the char will only be deleted just before hitting the Finish button, to minimize the chance of losing my chosen names

Thank you to have tested this. I reallly want to save Elloa and Eloa on all server, ans I want my name to be unique. In Tera I do believe it's even more important than in any other game.

There is a PCC (Pre Character Creation & Name reservation for pre-order customers) between 26/04 and 27/04, i have no idea how that works tho. Probably that you can just create your character but not log on. But it means you can screw around with "locking" characters without losing playtime, at least. :P

Yes indeed. But you just need another person wanting to use your char name with a pre-order to be screwed, should they be faster than you.

It would suck to loose your name by a few minutes

Oh well not much you can do about it if it happens. The other person might think the same thing when "you" would take his name.

One thing i think you can do is to simply quickly create characters with all your names when the PCC starts, and then delete and create them for real at a bit later, since i think the chance of someone stealing your name is far greater at the start of the PCC than at some random point later.

This is all ofc only if you actually can delete characters during the PCC. Anyone that knows if you can do that?

I would be proud if someone takes my name, since I pretty much randomly made it myself

Aye i was considering doing that at first, but you never know :p

We should be able to delete them as we can now, should be instant too since they will be under lvl 5. But nothing like a lil test during PCC

Character creation start the 26 april (thursday) probably 12h or 15h, but there is no final decision about it (this coming from Raven).
