Special Edition
Time to discuss about our special edition that will focus on Vanarch.
- Reportage about the Vanarch Gala
- Reportage with lot of screenies about each Vanarch, with small interview.
Some ideas.
For the screenies reportage, I'm thinking about taking different portrait and guild group screenshots in different place of the Zone the Vanarch will rule.
For the interview, I'm thinking about some more personal question that "serious" question. Like : what's your favourite race in Tera? Why did you choose to play that class? The thing you did you are the most ashamed? The thing you are the proudest. stuff like that.

Fifth numero
Wednesday 30 may 2012 is an important date for the Samael community, as the very first Vanarchs enter in office.
The last week had been thrilling with every guild trying to gather the most votes possible, competing with each other. However, those first elections had happened in a relatively fair play spirit. We could have expected more betrayals, more drama, more fights between guilds on the forum.
Along the week, we saw few changes in the ranking. The favourites earned their place early and managed to keep it. We had a last minute surprise, though, with <Divine> managing to beat <Trollface> and to be in charge of the Essenia district. The guild lead by Katsu had focused their entire campain into directly talking to the potential voters. A dedicated method that eventually brought them victory.
"The last day we won a lot of votes from Trollface haters" confessed Katsu.
Chobits, leader of <Big Eyes, Small Mouths> preferred to secure their votes by arranging an alliance with <Exiled> and <Vikings of Midgard>. That alliance wasn't enough for <Exiled> apparently, as they had been beaten by <Honor Bound>.
South Shara
1.Darkness -Magister (Veritas District)
2.Tangra -Deathie (Val Elenium)
3.Hentai Pornstar - Sunni (Westonia)
4. Vikings of Midgard - Brutusbrutal (Val Parada)
5. Divine - Katsu (Essenia)
North Shara
1. Elin Dance Squad - Mikichi (Lorcada)
2. Malectum - Milfurd (Helkan District)
3. The Crimson Eye - Sylver (Val Tirkai)
4. Outlaw - Sam (Val Kaeli)
5. Honor Bound - (Sylvanoth)
Arun
1. Insane - Code (Ostgarath)
2. Soul Eater - Neal (Poporia)
3. Whitestar- Acharial (Arcadia)
4. Rigor Mortis - Torztomp (Val Aureum)
5. Big Eyes Small Mouth - Chobits (Isle of Dawn)
With the honor of being elected as Vanarch, there's also great responsibility. Vanarchs are supposed to respect their promises. How are they doing?
The first day, some guilds hurried to open all stores as promised, and started their rounds to help players in group quests, instances or to deal with outlaws in their zone. Chobits <Big Eyes, Small Mouths> and Code <Insane> organised small events, rewarding the winners with generous prizes.
Other vanarchs has been less fulfilling, and has started getting bad publicity in public channels. The main subject of anger is high taxes.
" Insane, Outlaw, Rigor Mortis, Viking of Midgard, The Crimson Eye and Divine. Never EVER vote for these moron again, they put taxes in as high as 7%." declared Brynhildr, a furious voter.
However, one seems to beat <Rigor Mortis> in term of unpopularity. The guild lead by Torztomp is getting more and more disliked along the week. Not only satisfied to enforce high taxes and to let all shops close, they have started to gank the players arriving at Tulafan by the Pegasus.
"It's our town, bitches" claimed Ipod on the area chat.
We can see taxes beeing adjusted almost daily. Some Vanarchs have set their taxes relatively high in comparison to other, but none - except <Rigor Mortis> that increased their taxes at the maximum (15%) for some days - have gone up past 7%.
Most expensive areas at this day are : Val Kaeli (Outlaw) with taxes varing between 4% and 7%
Cheapest areas are Arcadia (Whitestar), Poporia (Soul Eater) and Val Elenium (Tangra), with all services and shops taxed at 1%.

Re: Special Edition
Flash News Week 5
- Arcadia will never be peacefull. After the ravages of Ironman, Akanee, and Bruna, it's the turn of a deadly Popori to scatter death and fear. Named after a famous warlord from another world, Garrosh enjoy to spend his free evenings hunting new players.
Some time ago, Garrosh came with this idea of an outlaw guild dedicated to pure pvp and lowbie killing. "Want to start a guild for bastards. " he declares in his post on Samael Forums.
Today, Garrosh is the most wanted outlaw of Arcadia,
"I was in Cresentia where he ganked my poor sorcerer, so I relogged with my main character since he was lvl38 and went looking for him.
He is quick with blocking people to deny easier localization through the friendslist" comments Amuatama <Whitestar>, who hunt the infamous Warrior regularly together with other guildies.
"The measures we are taking is pretty simple!" declared Acharial <Whitestar>, Arcadia's Vanarch " We always try to have people protecting Arcadia!" - Samael Bounty Board
Araella, officer of <Hentaï Pornstar>, had announced his project on the Samael Forum: a bounty board! http://samael-bountyboard.blogspot.co.uk/ The principle is very simple : a demand of assassination can be made with an offer in gold (minimum is 50g). Two agents, Agentone and Agenttwo, can be contacted and met in person to transfer the money very discretly. Then the announcement will be published on the website created for this use, and anyone can take the job. Obviously, screenshots need to be taken as proof of the death to be rewarded with the money promised.
"This is a project I've decided to start, along with a few others of <Hentai Pornstars>. Personally I'm a fan of espionage, sabotage, and assassinations. And along with many other members of Hentai Pornstar's we all love world PVP! This is a perfect way to fuel it!" share Araella on Samael forum.
The project has been warmly welcomed by the community. Now we have to wait for the first bounty to be executed: Kittycat, leader of <Exiled>. Someone wants revenge after last week's argument, maybe? Samael News will follow the case closely. - Wednesday 30-05-12: the voting stage ended around noon, and the elected Vanarch finaly entered in office, opening shops and setting taxes. See article ... for more informations.
- Thursday 31 -05-12 : Samael news organised a Grand Vanarch Gala to celebrate the first Vanarchs of our server. Almost all Vanarchs joined the event and stood proudly, mounting their honor horses on Velika's stairs. Only Neal < Soul Eater> and Torztomp <Rigor Mortis> were missing.
The parade that followed the arrangement in the Valkyon federation capital was interupted by an ambush on the North bridge, orchestred by Bad Manners. More information in our article - <Hentaï Pornstar> aroused controversity this week with their guild emblem. A furious player, indignated to see two sexy women, face covered by icecream (or whatever you would like to imagine) opened a thread on Samael Forum to report the logo, hoping for strong measures from Frosgter.
"Seriously? Everytime I enter their damn territory a picture with 2 anime-girls which have sperm in their face pop up directly in the middle of my screen. Are you seriously allowing this, Frogster? This is not only a fully retarded guild name, its just simply disgusting in combo with the picture."
A passionated discussion followed where the majority of players defended the point of view of <Hentaï Pornstar>. After all, their intentions weren't to offend players, but add a humoristic logo to their guild name.
Our reporter Abigael investigated the case by questioning random players questing in Westonia. All of them seem to appreciate the humour behind Hentaï Pornstar, in particuliar, after the change. Indeed, following the argument on forum, Sunni decided to modify their logo, making it more suitable for a Pegi 12+, while still keeping a humoristic touch. A kind of mockery for those that hadn't understood.
"We recently changed the logo to something we hoped was more suitable. But to be fair, we mostly chose it to fit our name. We just added an icecream. There are other logos wich are similar, such as <Critical Cleavage>. our is just more noticable as we are Vanarch." comment Sunni
" We changed it to be politicaly correct, we are totaly not hidding anything behind the Icecream" add Caitlynn
"Basicly, everything is in the name, so it's kinda obvious what kind of idea is behind it". - Yasha
"I love it, and the thread in the forum about it. Laughed my ass off yesterday." - Kitsuna - sunday 3-06-12 : During the evening, the Isle of Dawn was invaded - not by corrupted wildlife, but by Elin! Indeed, <Elin Dance Squad> decided to raid the place with approximately forty players. Knowing that <Elin Dance Squad> and <Big Eyes, Small Mouths>, politely (or not) hate each other, one could conclude this event had been made to annoy Chobits.
"Well it didn't bothered me much, they we're wasting their time. I think they blocked the bridge where players spawn and they spammed me with point of interest. I did reported them for that though. Kinda stupid of them since you could just change channel and get pass them." comment the isle's Vanarch.
However, things are not always like them seem to be.
"It was only meant to be a photo session but escalleted into something amazing. Personally in my own experiances of gaming I have never seen anything quite like" share Lexitha, officer of <Elin Dance Squad>.
The Elin gathered in the newbie island to take a group picture with old and new members. As they gathered forty of their members, they decided to parade in the area on their Vanarch mounts. They ended up at the starting area, trowing a welcoming party for the new players. And then a new player arrived, a Baraka named Steve. Steve, choosen as mascot by the Elin, had been followed all along his first quests. Then, they decided to offer him a scroll for their town, in Lorcadia, where they hold a party in his honor.
"It was quite a sight to see 40 odd Elins following one baraka through his struggle to lvl 2. He was quite sport and semed to enjoy the company and was a funny guy.We would like to thank everyone who attended and a special thank to Steve for his amazing attitude and character." continue Lexitha.
Steve, about to be the most famous baraka of the server has his own thread on Samael forum. However, he stays a mystery. Who is he? The alt of someone? A new player? Someone playing on another server, paying a short visit to Samael? We hope to see those question answered in the future.

Re: Special Edition
Question of the week
What do you think about the current Vanarch (of this region)?
Elija, human warrior from <Innocent> (Ostgarath): I wasn't there when the Vanarchip started, but they have speciality shops and pvp on. Seems good enough for me..
Thedoctor, high elf sorcerer, guildless (Val Parada) : I'm happy with the Vanarch cause the PVP is on and the basic npc are all activated
Franzesca, human sorcerer from <Prime> (Val Auneum) : Well I don't really that much to be perfectly honest.Taxes are at 4.8% straight through and there aren't speciality stores or skill trainers at this moment. But it's a new week, anything could happen!
Kiljaeden, Aman Slayer from <Vikings of Midgard> (Sylvanoth) : I haven't seen any harm or good from them. As for their taxes , I believe that they have the average taxes depending to the other areas. Don't really know what more should I say about them, haven't met any of them here

Re: Special Edition
Intro
There is only one first time: the first time you walk, the first time you go to shool, the first time you kiss a lover, the first time you drive a car. The first time doing anything new is a unique moment that should be cherished. Once it's done, you can never get it back.
This month, it was the first time we had Vanarchs beeing elected on our server. Certainly less epic than your first hangover, but it's a first time nonethless.
For those reasons, we wanted to celebrate it by a special event, the Grand Vanarch Gala, and a special edition of Samael News. The first one of many others...
With this special edition, we also wanted to show you what Samael News can become. Samael news is a project we had since a very long time in Whitestar. We planed it carefully as long term project focused and dedicated on the community. Our purpose with Samael News was to increase the player and guild interactions, motivate people to organise events, promote what they are doing and encourage any positive effort. All of this to help to build a strong community on Samael.
We started this project small to be sure we will be able to keep it up on the long term, and to not exaust ourselves with too much weight on our shoulders. But we also intended to see this project grow up, and improve. We intended to include the community more. Because that's our final goal: to create a nice newspaper written by the players for the players, a website that wil be used by most of Samael players to keep themselves updated about what's going on, and to allow them to add their pinch of salt.
Now, that Samael News is starting to get well known, it's time to open it to the community. We really wish to see you, Samael player, participate to this. We are looking for reporters to improve the FlashNews, and guest writers. We have many ideas that has not been explored yet, but our main priority now is to reinforce what had already been created and to improve it. And for that, we need YOUR participation!
If you are interested, please contact us at .....
The Samael News crew worked very hard to provide. We hope you enjoyed it, and to soon see some of you working with us; hunting scoops, writing articles and gathering screenshots..

Re: Special Edition
interviews
SUNNI
What are your plans for your zone?
- As of right now, we just want to keep all the vendors up as much as possible. We really wanted to plan PVP events but by looking at others events there is currently a lack of people signing up to events so we are not sure, really.
What difficulties do you encounter as a Vanarch?
- Mostly just keeping all the vendors up and making sure I know when they are stopping.
If you had to give your Vanarship to someone else, who it would be and why?
- I'm not sure I currently like most of the current Vanarchs there wasn't really any other candidate i'd vote for.
Do you want to add something
- nope
NEAL
What are your plans for your zone?
- Taxes 1% and free PVP
What difficulties do you encounter as a Vanarch?
- My guild help me for Vanarch quest
If you had to give your Vanarship to someone else, who it would be and why?
- No, no one.
Do you want to add something
- VOTE NEAL FOR NEXT ELECTION
CHOBITS
What are your plans for your zone?
- To give all the new players the best experience of Tera possible and also give them a chance to get a good start in the game by organising contest where they can win lots of gold.
What difficulties do you encounter as a Vanarch?
- Well, nothing really. The only thing that's a bit annoying is that you have to open the shops each day when they close. you can't extend the time whenever you want.
If you had to give your Vanarship to someone else, who it would be and why?
- Elin Dance Squad, just because I just don't like them at all.
Do you want to add something
- Vote for me the next election. Chii will be happy then
MIKICHI
What are your plans for your zone?
- I'm trying my best to keep all shops open daily, with least down time as possible..
What difficulties do you encounter as a Vanarch?
- First of all, the community expect a lot from you and some have very little patience. But nothing beats being bombed by messages when I'm trying to play my game like everyone else.
If you had to give your Vanarship to someone else, who it would be and why?
- It would be my girlfriend, without her advice and support, I'd not be where I'm today
Do you want to add something
- I appreciate the support I have gotten from the community, and I'm sorry I was not able to attend the Vanarch Gala due to urgent matters at work. Hopefully we will get just as much support from everyone else during the second elections.
KATSU
What are your plans for your zone?
- My plans are to keep our promises, to make events once we accumulate enough taxes income to get rewards worth participating in.
What difficulties do you encounter as a Vanarch?
- Biggest obstacle is gaining enough political points to maintain all NPC's on both towns.
If you had to give your Vanarship to someone else, who it would be and why?
- That's a surprisingly hard question. I'd have to say Chobits from Big Eyes, Small Mouths, because they have been active and friendly towards our legion and also formed group for Vanarch boss hunts.
Do you want to add something
- Since I'm unsure how my answer are used on what context, I can't really add anything at this point.
Deathie
What are your plans for your zone?
-To keep it cheap and alwasy with maxed traders for people to be happy
What difficulties do you encounter as a Vanarch?
- People not knowing how system works and not beeing supportive. Got trolled the first time I tryied to get some recs for fast shops. However it's all good now.
If you had to give your Vanarship to someone else, who it would be and why?
-I guess only your guild (Whitestar) had keep the word for keeping taxes low. So prolly your leader (Acharial).
Do you want to add something
- Well I hope people keep voting for people that did their jobs as Vanarchs. It's really a ahrd job, and we waste our time not for real benefit. I'm getting about 200 gold by day. I can get 3000-4000 if I do instance instead of rising shops. People should decide by themselves. I'll not promote myself nor spam LFG.
Brutusbrutal
What are your plans for your zone?
-Our plans i to maintain shops open at the moment. Keep low taxes and see through people are happy with it. We have been lacking policy points, because I didn't really know how to obtain it. This time I'm not doing anything else but these simple things at this time.
What difficulties do you encounter as a Vanarch?
- At this point its only been with gathering the policy points. We haven't really promised anything else for our area. So that is what have been complicated, it's a lot of grinding for teh Vanarch itself if the groupquests already have been done by other Vanarch/Guilds.
If you had to give your Vanarship to someone else, who it would be and why?
- All I can say is that ther eis one person who helped us with extra votes, himself spend a lot of time doing this and unfortunately didn't get to be Vanarch even with the Viking support.
Do you want to add something
- I really do appreciate all the support we have got from all. I also apologies for the shops being closed, we will adjust this from now on and will compensate this with the next Election is coming up.
