Games, book, website : how to know StarWars better?

Considering that we have some weeks left before SWTOR and that I'm not very well aware about the Star Wars universe, i was wondering if there was movies, series, games, book I could play or read before SWTOR come to have a better knowledge of the Star War lore.

Star Wars: The Old Republic is in a totally different timeline than the movies. It's tons of years beofre the events with Anakin Skywalker....

The online game will be based upon Biowares Kotor1(Knights of the old republic) and Kotor 2 games. Those two games will give you plenty of lore, Swtor will basically be a "Kotor3" The Kotor games are like any other bioware game, you have deep stories and you can have relationship just like in Dragon Age. There are some really interesting companions in those games. I would advice you to play them first to get an overall picture of The old Republic era, then maybe read some novels about the various cahracters. Most of them have their own novels.

I recently read a book called "decived" wich is fantastic, It's from Darth Malgus point of view wich gives an insight of the sith at that time. There is also some "The old republic" books that I've read that are fantastic!

I've been interested in the Star Wars lore since I was 5 so if you want to discuss the lore you know who to ask! XD

I personally think that The old Republic era is much better than Anakins era. It's more about the force, Jedis, Sith and have some really deep lore. Not just everything centered around one person, Anakin. The movies does not really give you any depth about the lore at all. It's as I said a story abour Anakin Skywalker.

Right now I'm watching a series called "The clone wars". It's an animated series from 2008-2011 but It's about the clone wars and not really The old republic era. The animation used is the inspiration for Swtor also, they are using the same style in the game.

Something to remember about Star Wars is that what matters about it is Star Wars: Expanded Universe. George Lucas has made tons and tons of stuff outside the movies to extend the universe. The movies are a very minor part of the overall lore of Star Wars Universe.

I think I'll play Kotor then, to start with. I've seen the Clone War, or atleast some of it some years ago. But I'm really interested is to know the Lore for SWTOR better, so it seem that KOTOR is a bit unavoidable if you want to know the story well.

Elloa, I saw a timeline with every movies, books and games in chonological order. It's on the french part of the official SWTOR forum but I can't find it again.
