I really like the combo systems they have developed, as it gives a player the opportunity to cause very neat 'surprises'.

Also the final profession (class) was officially announced yesterday, and it looks good. xD

I heard that they won't have another beta but instead they will pre-lunch the game whenever it's ready. (I saw it somewhere in their forums but I can't remember where)

Yeeaah...the year of the Dragon started!!

Finally some actual news (well sort of anyway) on the GW2 release date other than "When It's Ready". Open Beta may start as early as March, with release later in the year.

Meh...Thats about the same time open beta for The Secret World (and possibly TERA?) will start as well.
what to play ... what to play....

yeah..there is too much cool games! Will not be able to play them all, so I think I'll stick with SWTOR and Tera. Maybe I'll try out GW2 though, as you don't need to pay for it, but it's not in my priority list.

Personally I lost my interest to gw2 for the time being since games more unique than gw2 will come. Will stick with TERA that's for sure. (hoping for a beta invitation xD)

You also have to take into account that since GW2, unlike other games, does not really require you to be at any specific level or point in the game to enjoy any event that may be happening, you can do as i plan to do and play it "in the background", as of, during those dead, boring hours when you dont really know what to do.

Personally i think i will mostly play Tera and PSO2, with a few hours of mists of pandaria thrown inbtw.
I played SWTOR, bought it, but it didint fully convince me, it´s a great game do not get me wrong but i guess not what i personally was looking for.

Well, that video pretty much highlighted why i said in my application thread that Guild Wars 2 might make me quit TERA. Or rather, to clarify that, i will (most likely) be playing GW2, whether i quit anything else for it is another question tho.

That thing was a lot bigger that i thought it was.

Altough i am at the moment playing SW:TOR, i will stop when TERA comes about. But since GW2 has no subsctiption i will be sure to pick it up and play it from time to time to clear my head, as i intend to do with Diablo 3. Not really my main game but to keep some variety. Plus, due to its lack of subcription, i might convince a few RL friends to play :p

I really like the little dobby like creatures, and some classes look interesting, enough so to check it out.

Speaking of that Charr plush, today's random facts:
Apparently, according to that little slip he has, his name is "Charrlie".
Also, he is "not a toy, not suitable for children under 15". I actually have no clue what about a huge plush that makes him unsuitable for "children under 15"...

He smells kinda nice tho.

For who is also interested in GW2, pre-purchasing started today. This will give you guaranteed access to all beta weekends of GW2.
And considering the time Arenanet took till now, there will be many many weekends... pffff

When I see promo vids for GW2 i'm like WOW!!!! when I see gameplay vids i'm like MEH!!!

Only think that has caught my eye with GW2 so far is the scenery.

The character movements/animations especially running look really bad almost like the character is floating, I find the animation more important then great grapics, but atm GW2's is'nt near WoW/Tera for animation. If my character does'nt feel believable then its lost me already. and yes I know its only beta

Well, as you said, it is beta. Animations are kinda bad in places yes, most likely it will get fixed before launch tho. So it's not a great cause for concern - yet at least. :P
The overkill with particle effects is worse IMO. It's so much it gets really hard to see what is going on, so hopefully that as well will get fixed.

Yes agree, backwards graphics and animations could really hurt GW2 from the start. I sure hope they can improve on this before release, but I doubt they can get it anywhere as gorgeous as Tera.

What I see as GW2's most interesting features are its dynamic event / quest system and its combo system. With combo's you can cause some pretty neat surprises. I like games that allow you to do special 'tricks' like that, makes playing it more rewarding.

Good thing about GW2 is that you don't need a paid subscription, so you can play it next to Tera. If only I could get a subscription for getting more time

BTW, they are supposed to fix the particle overkill problem.

Anyway i got it. Although i totally agree with the floating running, i like what i have seen up until now, so its worth a try.

My top 10 reasons for playing GW2:
1. Not fixed to your server, you can play on any server in the world if you have a friend there (24 x 7 playing in full, international communities)
2. Semi-dynamic combat: Dodging and (yeaahh!!) casting while moving, even backwards
3. Best PvP in class - structured PvP (sPvP) allows you to play your character fully loaded at level 80 from day 1 !!!
4. Multi-guild system: you can for example join 1 guild for PvP and another one for RP, and switch between the two (guilds may be on different servers too) - no more PvP QQ'ing ever
5. Awesome musical score by Jeremy Soule
6. Personal Story line
7. Great community, motivated to help each other rather than ganking lowbies
8. Active RP community and designated RP server (Petrified Forest for EU)
9. Guild Halls and Player Housing (planned)
10. and last but not least.... my beloved Sylvari Mesmer
